COVID-19
Updated September 2020
Below are details of the arrangements I have put in place to minimise the risk of transmission. I appreciate that this will be very different from what we all are used to. My priority is to offer the best service I can whilst keeping everyone safe, as far as possible.
BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT
As with latest government guidance, I am seeing patients for face to face appointments. You may initially book an appointment for a face to face meeting online, but I will still need to speak to you on a pre-screening call before we meet. You can also book a pre- screening conversation online so that there is a designated time you will be able to speak to me, otherwise just give me a call on 07952383485. I am still offering telehealth consultations for those that prefer, which can also be booked online.
Treating in person is a joint decision based on my professional clinical judgement and you, the patient, as well as updated guidance regarding osteopathic practice it as it changes.
Using established and updated measures and precautions, I consider there is a low-risk of transmission within the clinic of the virus. However, it is essential to understand that attending a face to face consultation, with hands-on treatment is not a completely risk-free situation.
High-Risk Groups
I can see patients who are in the moderate risk / vulnerable category (those who are pregnant, are 70 or older, have a non severe lung condition, have a chronic illness or who have a condition or are taking medication that means they have a higher risk of getting infections) after we have done a telephone triage.
If you are in a high risk / extremely vulnerable demographic (you have been diagnosed with cancer. are immune-compromised for various reasons) and have received a letter from the NHS informing you of this, you are recommended NOT to receive face-to-face osteopathic care at this time. If your condition is very urgent ie: you would otherwise be attending your GP / Consultant / A&E, please do call and I will offer what advice I am able.
Please do not come to the clinic if:
HYGIENE POLICY AND INFECTION CONTROL
Our health and safety is my priority; this is how I am responding:
I am meeting all patients outside the clinic, to ensure that you do not need to touch door handles etc on the way in. I will expect you to be wearing a mask ( I can provide one if you forget). I will also give you hand sanitiser to apply.
In terms of PPE, I will be wearing a disposable apron and mask (FRSM Type IIR) at all times, and will treat you in disposable gloves, thoroughly cleaning my hands before and after.
The window is open during treatment to allow air circulation and although the room is heated I suggest you bring an extra layer to keep warm during treatment.
I am allowing 15 minutes between each patient and am wiping down the plinth and pillows after every patient with medical grade sanitiser. I will also replace my apron/gloves and air the room. Floors are cleaned daily and the bathroom is cleaned after every use. Touchable hard surfaces that have been used will be sanitised between patients; including door handles, taps, card payment machines, chair, desk, etc.
PAYMENTS
You can pay online while booking the appointment. Otherwise card payments are now available in the clinic (wiped down afer usage) and we can also arrange payment via BACS.
